About Us : Dan & Karen Gruber

We love Pinot Noir, all its nuances and all its diversity. There are additional challenges that come with making Pinot Noir and that appeals to us.  In our opinion, it’s the most honest grape; it does not hide, it does not respond well to force, and it can be the most magical experience you will find in a glass.

The decision to make wine was not a quick one.  In 2013, without a plan in mind, we found ourselves in a small Sonoma tasting room near our B&B.  Two and a half hours later, after a truly inspiring tasting journey, we left with a deeper appreciation for what Pinot Noir can become in the hands of a true artist winemaker, and a dream that one day we would be lucky enough to make our own. A year later we had created the right team for this adventure, and we were standing in a vineyard looking at the fruit that would become our first bottling.

We wanted our wine to represent who we are and where we came from.  The name Styler represents the place we met. We spent a magical summer in the Styler dorm house as undergrads at UCLA, getting to know each other, and laying the groundwork for what would become a lifelong friendship, partnership, and loving marriage.

We had the time of our lives at Styler, and we want to bring that same magic to every bottle of wine we make. Here’s to discovery, the fascinating ability to bottle up time and a place, and the joys of sharing that magic with the ones we love. Cheers!
